One of our most frequently asked questions during our free in-home consultation is “How much do plantation shutters cost?” The final price is difficult to give without having the specifics of the project. For each individual quote, we will need to know the measurements of each window, determine if special installation is required, and know if you’re interested in additional options (like hidden tilt rods).
Custom-shaped windows and frame style can affect final prices. However, we’ve listed some basic estimates on some of our best-selling shutter products.
Prices are based on a standard panel covering a 3’ x 6’ window and should help you create an approximate idea. All our shutters are custom-crafted in the US to fit your exact dimensions, so final prices will vary.
What affects shutter prices?
Regardless of which style you choose, Sunburst Shutters gives you long-lasting, beautiful window treatments that are custom-made to fit your particular windows. In fact, it’s the “custom-built” part that makes giving a quote on the phone a difficult task to achieve.
So, what factors affect pricing?
Type of Shutter
Many plantation shutters are built with a faux-wood compound that is durable, water-resistant and energy efficient. Our StudioTM shutters are the most cost-effective option but aren’t as easily customized as our other plantation shutters. Polywood® shutters are constructed from a superior faux wood material that won’t warp, crack, or chip, and includes an energy-efficient insulation system and gives you different options for wood grain finishes, frames, and louver sizes. Timberland® shutters are made from poly material as well but are stained to better blend with your natural wood finishes. Our Ovation® shutters are handmade from solid hardwoods.
Window size and shapes
The estimates have shown reflect pricing for 3’ x’ 6’ panels, but some windows don’t conform to this “standard” size. We will measure your windows at your in-person consultation because we’ll need your window’s precise measurements, including any unique measurements or angles that we’ll need to record. It’s important to us that your shutters fit your windows seamlessly, which is why our shutters are custom-made to fit your windows’ measurements -- and why each quote is unique. We can also build shutters for uniquely-shaped windows, like rake or arched windows, which may add some cost compared to traditional window shutters. We will check to decide if any extra installation is required due to wall and frame width.
Optional Benefits
A few other options that affect the final cost of shutters include benefits such as hidden tilt rods or special framing. Other options like louver size won’t affect the pricing.
