Congratulations to the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Bill Burke

The start of a new year means a new chance to revamp your home design, and stunning new shots of shutters from homeowners in Indianapolis and across the country. The new year also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the first of 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of the many towns around the U.S. whose homes can benefit from Polywood shutters no matter the time of year. Even when not closed tightly like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a huge amount of sunlight from flooding into the home. In Elk Grove as well as in Indianapolis, that’s a boon to any design-minded homeowner who wants total light control in their space.

Plantation shutters also block energy transfer through the windows, which makes them great for homeowners who experience blistering summers or harsh winters, or who just want to max out their home’s energy efficiency. That means a more comfortable home and money saved each month with reduced energy bills.

Katie’s shutters also capitalize on some newer home design trends. Neutral-colored backgrounds such as her tan wall are becoming very popular, with differing splashes of colors–in Katie’s home the white of the Polywood shutters–providing points of interest throughout the space. Available in various white and off-white hues, plantation shutters can fill a nice role in contemporary interior design.

As the winner of our Share Your Shutters contest, Katie wins a $100 gift card to a California restaurant, as well as getting her awesome shutters featured alongside our past winners.
